The Philippines' President anticipates a post-Covid visit to Sri Lanka.

With the celebration of 60 years of diplomatic ties this year, the Philippines and Sri Lanka pledged to further their cooperation.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday, the commitment was made during a phone discussion between President Rodrigo Duterte and Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on June 28.

Duterte stated that the Philippines wishes to deepen its cooperation with Sri Lanka at the United Nations on areas of mutual concern. He also expressed gratitude to the Sri Lankan government for ensuring the safe return of Filipino sailors from the oil tanker MT New Diamond, which caught fire last year off Sri Lanka's eastern coast.
