Weather Alert - Public to be vigilant to minimize damages due to strong winds and lightning during thundershowers

Heavy rains of up to 50 mm are forecast in various areas of Sabaragamuwa province, as well as Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts and The north-western and western provinces, as well as the Galle and Matara districts, will have showers.

 

In the evenings and nights, showers or thundershowers will occur in a few locations in the Eastern and Uva provinces.

 

In the sea areas stretching from Negombo to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle, winds will be south-westerly to westerly. In other sea zones around the island, winds will be south-westerly. In the sea areas stretching from Galle to Pottuvil via Hambantota and from Puttalam to Kankasanturai via Mannar, wind speeds will be (30-40) kmph with gusts up to (50-60) kmph.
