The UN Human Rights Office criticizes Duminda's presidential pardon.

The release of former Parliamentarian and murder convict Duminda Silva under a presidential pardon has been denounced by the United Nations Human Rights Office.

 

“Presidential pardon of Duminda Silva, a former MP convicted of the murder of a fellow politician, is another example of selective, arbitrary granting of pardons that weakens rule of law and undermines accountability.” UN Human Rights Office tweeted.
