Ratwatte prisons’ incidents

The Police are awaiting Cabinet directions to take action based on the findings of a committee investigating an incident involving Lohan Ratwatte, a former State Minister.
Ratwatte allegedly entered prisons in 2021 and threatened inmates. The one-member committee's report, led by Kusala Sarojini Weerawardena, recommends police action. Still, the information hasn't reached the Cabinet yet.
Ratwatte is accused of entering prisons under the influence, brandishing a pistol, and intimidating inmates. The Police can proceed only after the appointing party decides on implementation.
The report lists charges like attempted murder and criminal intimidation.
