Indian Finance Minister invites China to join debt relief efforts for SL

India's Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, has called for a comprehensive and quicker approach to address the debt vulnerabilities of countries, including Sri Lanka.
She welcomed China to join the efforts steered by Japan, India, and France to help Sri Lanka cope with its debt distress. Sitharaman emphasized the need for reforms and debt-relief measures by multilateral development banks (MDBs) to alleviate debt distress in stressed economies.
She praised Japan's leadership in quickly forming a committee of creditors. She urged MDBs to be more nimble in providing redressal to countries facing debt challenges.
