Imam killed after Hindu mob attacks mosque in India’s Gurugram

A mob of far-right Hindus torched and opened fire at a mosque in a suburb of New Delhi, India, killing the 19-year-old deputy imam, Maulana Saad, and injuring one other person.
The attack on the Anjuman Jama mosque in Gurugram came after violent clashes between Hindu and Muslim communities in the neighbouring Nuh District in the Northern Haryana State, where four people, including two police personnel, were killed.
The violence erupted during a Hindu religious procession passing through the Muslim-majority region. The incident follows a campaign against Friday prayers in Gurugram by a Hindu far-right group aligned with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.
The authorities have imposed a curfew in the area and suspended internet services, urging people to maintain peace.
