Prez asks all MPs to attend P’ment next week

President Ranil Wickremesinghe has requested all Members of Parliament to be present during the upcoming parliamentary week's sessions. 

 

 

This directive came during a Cabinet meeting on Monday. The President wants Ministers, State Ministers, and other MPs to attend the sittings scheduled for September 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th. 

 

 

The reason for this call is the upcoming debate on a no-confidence motion against Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, initiated by the Opposition.

 

 

 The decision comes after reports of some MPs from the ruling Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna considering boycotting the motion. The debate is expected to span three days.
