Namal calls for a new investment and development bank

Namal calls for a new investment and development bank

Namal Rajapaksa, a Member of Parliament from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), has proposed the establishment of a new investment bank and a development bank in Sri Lanka through a public-private partnership (PPP).

He suggested that both the government and the private sector could have stakes in these banks, which would cater to the interests of businesses of different scales.

Rajapaksa emphasized that such banks are necessary to meet the changing economic landscape and to provide support to Sri Lankan entrepreneurs.

The development bank could offer both long-term and short-term loans, while the investment bank could assist local entrepreneurs who intend to invest overseas.

He also highlighted the importance of providing guidance and support to Sri Lankan businessmen looking to invest in other countries.

This proposal aims to create financial institutions that can facilitate economic growth, provide funding, and offer expertise to businesses in Sri Lanka, ultimately contributing to the development of the country's economy.
