Coconut cultivation

Starting this week, Sri Lanka will impose an import tax on imported coconut oil to protect local manufacturers. 

 

 

State Minister of Finance, Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, announced that the tax is expected to be around Rs. 25 per litre of coconut oil. 

 

 

The measure aims to support the local coconut oil industry by making imported coconut oil less competitive in the market.
