Elements of terror group FETÖ removed from SL

Turkish Ambassador Demet Şekercioğlu announced last week that elements of the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), a banned group in Turkey, have been removed from Sri Lanka. FETÖ was responsible for the failed coup attempt in Turkey in 2016, resulting in hundreds of casualties.
Ambassador Şekercioğlu praised the successful joint efforts between Turkey and Sri Lanka in combating terrorism, leading to the elimination of FETÖ from Sri Lanka. Turkey continues to work closely with Sri Lankan authorities, sharing intelligence to build a solid and vigilant response against terrorism.
The Democracy and National Unity Day Commemoration Ceremony in Colombo on Saturday (15) served as a reminder of the principles of democracy, freedom, and the rule of law that were threatened during the attempted coup in Turkey.
The Ambassador emphasized that Turkey's fight against FETÖ has been unwavering, and combating these elements of terror remains a top priority both within and outside the country.
Turkey's Foreign Minister also expressed gratitude to its Asian partners for their support in the fight against FETÖ.
