Labour law reforms

The National People's Power (NPP) party criticized the new labour law reforms introduced by the Ministry of Labour, saying that the government prioritized international organizations over the well-being of citizens.

They believe the reforms focus on the interests of the IMF and the World Bank, neglecting the needs of the working class in Sri Lanka. The NPP argued that the new laws are based on an unrealistic idea of a "free economic individual" and use decorative words to hide potential dangers.

They are concerned that the reforms could restrict people's rights and weaken trade unions. The government has not responded to these allegations.
