Opposition Presidential candidate SJB rejects allegations of Opp. Leader not running

The main opposition party, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), has confirmed that its leader, Sajith Premadasa, will be a candidate for the upcoming Presidential election in 2024. 

 

 

This confirmation came in response to allegations made by some Government MPs that Premadasa would not contest in the election. 

 

 

SJB General Secretary Ranjith Maddumabandara dismissed these claims and asserted that Premadasa is the strongest Presidential candidate for the opposition. 

 

 

The SJB Working Committee had previously unanimously decided to nominate Sajith Premadasa as their Presidential candidate.
