Tusker Agbo injured by gunshot yet again

Tusker Agbo injured by gunshot yet again

Despite having previously recovered from gunshot injuries, the tusker elephant known as Agbo has once again been shot at and injured, Wildlife authorities said.

M.J.C. Sooriyabandara, Director of the Department of Wildlife, revealed that the animal had been shot at by an unidentified individual near the Wannammaduwa Tank in Trippane.

Veterinary experts have swiftly arrived at the scene to provide treatment to the wounded elephant.

Agbo stands as one of the few remaining giant tuskers in the wild in Sri Lanka. At nearly 40 years old and standing at a height of about 10 feet, he roams freely in the wild.

This incident comes after Agbo's previous critical condition due to a gunshot injury caused by a trap gun a few months ago.
