Rain in most provinces today as well

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in most provinces of the island, including in the Western, Southern, and Eastern Provinces, during the morning.

 

The Forecasting Division of the National Meteorological Centre said fairly heavy showers of about 75mm are likely at some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva Provinces.

 

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva Provinces during the morning.

 

Therefore, the public requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

 

Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast, extending from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Colombo, Galle, Hambantota and Pottuvil. 

 

The winds will be south-westerly or variable in direction, with speeds up to 20–30 kmph.

 

The seas around the island will be slightly rough. Temporary strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
