JICA Association of SL holds AGM, SL-Japan Night

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Association of Sri Lanka recently held its annual event at the Sasakawa Centre in Kollupitiya.

 

The Association's Annual General Meeting (AGM) took place during the event, and a new Executive Committee for the year 2023/24 was selected.

 

 

The Association's members have undergone training courses in Japan sponsored by JICA. They represent various fields throughout Sri Lanka, such as agriculture, engineering, health, and education. The Japanese Ambassador in Sri Lanka is the patron of this Association.

 

 

Over the last four months, the Association successfully implemented outstanding social service projects. These projects included providing tool kits to inmates released to start small-scale businesses in trades they learned while incarcerated.

 

 

Pregnant mothers from low-income families also received essential items for themselves and their families. The Association also established a computer lab at the Dompe Devi Balika Maha Vidyalaya.
