Govt. moves forward with privatisation of airport operations

The Sri Lankan Government plans to privatize ground handling, catering, and jet fuel supply operations at all three international airports currently under state monopoly. The Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority announced this decision on July 15.
The main goal of this move is to bring in private entities to provide these services at international airports, aiming to enhance efficiency and encourage competition. This initiative is part of broader efforts to liberalize the aviation sector and involve more participation from the private sector.
By allowing private companies to take on these operations, the Government expects to see improvements in service quality, increased efficiency, and a more competitive aviation industry.
