Govt. to take ‘deficient, negligent’ registrars to task

State Minister of Home Affairs, Ashoka Priyantha, stressed the importance of fulfilling job responsibilities during an award ceremony to appoint Colombo District Registrars of Births, Deaths, and Marriages. 

 

 

He advised those unable to fulfill their duties to decide quickly on their service continuity. Priyantha highlighted the national responsibility to serve the public effectively and ethically, avoiding any misuse of authority. 

 

 

He mentioned a set of instructions for registrars and a proposed system to deduct marks for deficiencies and negligence, which may require approval from the Prime Minister.
