Neighbouring intel. agencies to support SL Police efforts
A special committee, led by Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Deshbandu Tennakoon, has been established to combat the drug issue in Sri Lanka.
The Police, along with support from intelligence agencies in neighbouring countries, are implementing various measures to prevent large-scale drug smuggling and trafficking.
Controlling the drug problem in Sri Lanka was addressed at a Parliamentary Select Committee meeting chaired by Public Security Minister Tiran Alles.
The National Authority on Tobacco and Alcohol offered suggestions to curb tobacco and alcohol use. At the same time, the National Dangerous Drugs Control Board focuses on treating drug addiction.
