A bus strike on Kesbews – Pettah route (120)

All private bus owners launched a strike this morning on the Kesbewa – Pettah route (120 route) against the recent decision of the Road Passenger Transport Authority (RPTA).

 

The decision by RPTA to grant a license for a new bus was focused on the strike and the bus operators claimed that new buses cannot be operated on the 120 route according to the court order issued in 2000. Protesters also argued that two of the RPTA’s employees stationed at the Kesbewa bus station have been granted leave.
