The court rejects the private complaint against the former Governor of CBSL

The private complaint filed against the former Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), Ajith Nivard Cabraal was rejected by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today. The private complaint was filed over the alleged misappropriation of government funds.

 

However, after considering the preliminary objection filed by Cabraal's lawyer, the court rejected the complaint. The court stated that the evidence is not sufficient against the accused and thereby the complaint has to be rejected.

 

The former Governor of the Southern and Central Provinces, Rajith Keerthi Thennakoon filed this private complaint against Ajith Nivard Cabraal for misappropriation of state funds during his tenure as the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka from 2006 to 2015.
