Paediatric Ward is Shutdown in Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital

"Due to the migration of four paediatricians who previously served at the unit, the professorial unit of the paediatric ward of the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital has been shut down." Dr. Haritha Aluthge; Secretary of the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) stated.

According to him, the GMOA had been warning about this situation continuously since it can cause potentially serious effects on health services in Sri Lanka. Further, Dr. Aluthge declared that a minimum of 600 to 700 doctors and specialists have migrated over the last year and the Health Ministry receives at least 40 migration applications from doctors every month.
