Today is the Esala Full Moon Poya Day

Today is the Esala Full Moon Poya Day, which is important for the Buddhists of the world.

The Supreme Buddha's pilgrimage for 45 years began and the first sermon of the Buddha, the Damsak Sutta, was preached on the Poya day at Migadaya in Isipathana, Varanasi.

This Poya day is the day before the arrival of the Upasampada monks and on the occasion of the Esala Poya day, amisa and policy poojas will be held at the temples from this morning.
