Teejay is the first Lankan company to join the US Cotton Trust Protocol.

Teejay Lanka and Teejay India, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Teejay Lanka, have joined the US Cotton Trust Protocol as new members.
Teejay is the first textile manufacturer in Sri Lanka to join the Trust Protocol, which will allow the company to demonstrate that the cotton fiber used in its sourcing mix is cultivated in a more environmentally and socially responsible manner.
The US Cotton Trust Protocol is a farm-level, science-based program that establishes a new standard for cotton that is farmed in a more sustainable manner. It establishes measurable and verifiable targets for sustainable cotton production and encourages continual development in six key sustainability indicators: land usage, soil carbon, water management, soil loss, GHG emissions, and energy efficiency.
The Sustainable Apparel Coalition, Cotton 2025 Sustainable Cotton Challenge, Cotton 2040, and Cotton Up initiatives all support the US Cotton Trust Protocol, which is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and recognized by Textile Exchange and Forum for the Future.
