Sri Lanka gets $ 80.5 to buy vaccines from World Bank

Sri Lanka is to receive a massive capital boost for its vaccination program as the World Bank has pledged 80.5 million US dollars to buy vaccines. The World Bank has already provided 298 million US dollars to Sri Lankan assistance of the battle against Corona.
The World Bank is confident that the country’s economy would improve soon as it predicted economic growth of about 4 percent in the coming quarter.
Unlike Pakistan and India, Sri Lanka has not allowed the private sector to import approved vaccines and all funds received for vaccination will be handled through government health authorities.
