Homebound Patients Increase - More closures

More than 4,000 COVID-19 infected patients are still in their homes due to the shortage of beds at treatment centres or hospitals across the country. According to the National Operation Centre for Prevention of Covid-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), currently, a total of 17,795 COVID-19 cases have been reported in the country.
However, only 13,043 COIVD-19 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals, government managed or paid Intermediate Care Centres (ICC). Accordingly, 4,752 COVID-19 patients are yet to be moved to hospitals or treatment centre. All schools, preschools, universities and private tutories in Sri Lanka will remain closed until further notice as daily COVID-19 cases continue to rise, Minister of Education Prof G L Peiris said.
All eco-tourist destinations, tourist attractions, forest lodges and camping grounds that were open to tourists and controlled by the Wildlife Department have been advised to close until further notice, the Government Information Department said.
