A new program to protect children

During a discussion with the National Child Protection Authority and line agencies, President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa said that most of the slave laborers in the country are estate workers.

He further said that since the Grama Niladharis have the information of the estate related families, if any information is received that there is no child in such a house, immediate action should be taken accordingly and steps should be taken to prevent child slavery.

Minister of State Piyal Nishantha said that steps have been taken to provide a house and two self-employment opportunities for the family of the girl who died at the residence of MP Bathiudeen.
