Vacation of post sans resignation

The Education Ministry plans to request a detailed report from State universities about academic and non-academic staff members who have left their positions without formally resigning. 

 

 

Education Minister Dr Susil Premajayantha recently revealed that 255 academic and 153 non-academic staff had vacated their posts without official resignations in the past year and a half. 

 

 

The Ministry will direct the Vice Chancellors of all 17 State universities to submit the report. Still, they have yet to be asked to do so. 

 

 

The issue of staff members leaving universities without resigning has been a concern, with a shortage of 4,616 university teachers reported in the system.
