4th Day of France civil unrest

4th Day of France civil unrest

Over 400 individuals have been arrested as clashes between police and protesters continue for the third consecutive night in France.

Despite a strong police presence, shops in Paris have been looted and cars have been set on fire.

Approximately 40,000 officers have been deployed throughout the country.

The unrest began on Tuesday when a 17-year-old boy of Algerian and Moroccan heritage, identified as Nahel M, was fatally shot by the police while attempting to flee a traffic stop.

The police officer responsible for the shooting has apologized to the family and is facing charges of voluntary homicide.

His lawyer states that he is deeply affected by the incident. Nahel's mother has expressed that she does not hold the entire police force responsible, but rather the officer who fired the lethal shot.

On Thursday afternoon, a peaceful tribute march, led by Nahel's mother, was attended by thousands of people.
