Turkiye – Lanka relations: ‘Zero tolerance for terrorism in Sri Lanka’

During a meeting with Turkish Defence Minister Yaser Guler in Turkey, State Minister of Defence Premitha Bandara Tennakoon reaffirmed Sri Lanka's commitment to a 'zero tolerance for terrorism' policy.
He informed Turkish authorities that any actions supporting terrorist activities would be dealt with strictly. The Turkish Defence Minister praised Sri Lanka's efforts, particularly its intelligence agencies, in cracking down on the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), led by Fetullah Gulen, a group banned in Turkey.
The two ministers discussed ways to improve mutual bilateral assistance and strengthen ties between both countries. Sri Lanka's Ambassador to Turkey, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy, and Turkish defence officials were also present during the meeting.
