Showers above 100mm after 1p.m today

Heavy showers of about 100 mm are likely in the Central, Uva and Sabaragamuwa Provinces and several places in most provinces of the country after 1p.m., the forecasting division of the National Meteorological Centre said.

 

They said showers may occur in the Western and Southern Provinces and in the Puttalam district during the morning too.

 

Meanwhile, showers will occur in the sea areas around the island. Winds will be south-westerly in the sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota. Winds will be variable in directions in the other sea areas around the island. Wind speed will be 30 kmph.

 

The sea areas around the island will be slight and temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
