Grama Niladhari arrested while taking ransom from pre-school teacher
A 51-year-old Grama Niladhari was caught red-handed while taking a ransom of Rs. 2 million from a pre-school teacher in Homagama.
The suspect was identified as the Grama Niladhari of the Suwapubudugama Grama Niladhari Division of Pitipana South, Homagama, Police said.
Homagama Police had received a complaint that someone had demanded a ransom of Rs. 2 million from a pre-school teacher in Homagama by making death threats over the phone.
The suspect was arrested by the police investigative officers while he was accepting the ransom.
The motorbike on which the suspect had come to accept the ransom, two mobile phones and the Grama Niladhari identity card were taken into police custody.
