A 10-year-old child deceased while supporting a marathon event

After running alongside a marathon in the Palagala area in Kudahettawa, Galkiriyagama, a 10-year-old child was reported deceased today’s morning. (22 April)

 

The child has been running for his brother’s support and collapsed on the way, reported Police. The child was immediately admitted to the Kalawewa Hospital and later transferred to the Anuradhapura General Hospital for further treatment. But the child succumbed to his injuries during the transfer. The cause of death is yet to be discovered by the Galkiriyagama Police. The postmortem examination is due to be done at the Kekirawa Base Hospital.
