A youth was shot near Karapitiya Hospital after making an aggressive move

On Saturday night, around 11:30, a youth was shot by the police following an altercation near the Karapitiya Hospital in Galle. The incident involved a police motorcycle patrol from the Akmeemana police station. 

 

 

According to the police, the youth, a 21-year-old resident of Wanchawala, Meegoda, in the Akmeemana police area, was with another person, and they arrived at the location on a scooter. 

 

 

The injured youth, the pillion rider, suffered a gunshot wound to his jaw. The police stated that one of the officers fired his pistol in response to an aggressive move by the youth. The scooter rider has also been arrested, and the injured youth is currently receiving treatment at Karapitiya Hospital.
