CEB seeks 18.3% power tariff increase

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has sought a power tariff increase of 18.3 percent from June to December 2025.

The CEB in its proposal to the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) said the CEB is estimated to have a deficit of Rs. 42,196.1 million for the period from June to December 2025 and requires a tariff increase of 18.3%.

The CEB said in its proposal to the PUCSL that any variations in the estimate, whether an excess or a shortfall, will be accounted for in the BSTA and considered in the next tariff revision.
