The evacuated Sri Lankans arrived in the country from Sudan

The 14 Sri Lankans who were evacuated from the Republic of Sudan were warmly welcomed by the Director-General of the Consular Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sisira Senavirathne, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a statement.

 

The individuals were evacuated here amidst the prevailing conflict situation in the Republic of Sudan, and they arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport today (April 29).

 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs monitored and facilitated their evacuation along with the generous assistance of the Government of Saudi Arabia.

 

For the evacuation process, the Embassies of Sri Lanka in Riyadh and Cairo and the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Jeddah, the Government of India, The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Nairobi and the Sri Lanka Embassy in Muscat have assisted.

 

The Ministry of Affairs of the Republic of Sudan has assured that they will continue the monitoring process to assist the Sri Lankan nationals who are still in an unsafe situation.
