Large-scale fraud in granting bus permits on expressways

There is a large-scale fraud continuously in granting new road permits for buses that are operated on expressways, according to Private Bus Owners’ Association.

 

The Chairman of the association; Gemunu Wijeratne said that over the last few days, 35 buses have been given temporary road permits, without calling for tenders. It has caused losses of millions to the governments.

 

These road permits had been issued as favours from ministers who represent the government, added Wijeratne.
