Weather Alert - Public to be vigilant to minimize damages due to strong winds and lightning during thundershowers

Showery conditions are expected to worsen across the island's south-western region (Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Southern provinces), as well as the windy conditions over the island and neighboring sea areas, over the following few days (particularly on 09th and 10th).

Showers or thundershowers are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-Western, Southern, and Central provinces at various times. Showers with a rainfall total of more than 75 mm are possible in certain areas.

During the evening or night, showers or thundershowers may occur in a few locations in the Uva and Eastern provinces, as well as the Mullaitivu district.
