Weather Alert - Public to be vigilant to minimize damages due to strong winds and lightning during thundershowers

The showery conditions in the south-western section of the island are likely to improve slightly today (01st July).

Showers are expected in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-Western, and Southern provinces, as well as the Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts. Showers of up to 75 mm are forecast in various areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Southern provinces, as well as the Nuwara-Eliya districts.

In the evening or night, showers or thundershowers may occur in a few locations in Uva and Eastern provinces, as well as in Mullaitivudistrict.

Showers are possible in the sea areas spanning from Negombo to Hambanthota to Colombo and Galle at times.
