Three Army personnel arrested for extorting money from drug traffickers

Two persons have demanded Rs. 15,000 from a woman who was involved in drug trafficking in Chilaw.

Police Media Spokesman Senior DIG Ajith Rohana stated that according to the complaint lodged by the woman, the two men were arrested while paying the ransom.

The Negombo Divisional Investigation Unit has arrested a soldier who had come to the house of a drug dealer in the Seeduwa area and demanded Rs. 80,000 to continue the operation.

The three arrested soldiers are due to be produced before the Chilaw and Negombo courts today and will be deported from the Sri Lanka Army, Army Commander General Shavendra Silva said.
