The first resident High Commissioner of New Zealand to Sri Lanka assumes duty.

The first resident High Commissioner of New Zealand to Sri Lanka began office today.

By presenting his credentials to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Michael Appleton became New Zealand's first resident High Commissioner to Sri Lanka.

Until now, New Zealand's relations with Sri Lanka were handled by the New Zealand High Commission in New Delhi.

According to the President's Office, Appleton is honored to serve as the first High Commissioner of the newly established New Zealand High Commission in Sri Lanka, further strengthening bilateral relations.
