The executive presidency is essential

The Secretary General of the Freedom Party, Minister of State Dayasiri Jayasekara stated at the Parliamentary Select Committee that it is essential to maintain the executive presidency in order to identify the necessary amendments to the rules and regulations of the Elections and Elections Structure and to make necessary amendments.

They further emphasized the need to decentralize provincial council powers and introduce a district council system.

Prof. Tissa Vitarana, Member of Parliament for the Lanka Sama Samaja Party stated that there is a need to establish a new electoral system that protects the rights of all communities and to focus on increasing the representation of women in politics.
