The Court of Appeal has stated that the current epidemic is not a special reason for granting bail

The Court of Appeal ruled that the current covid epidemic was not a special reason to grant bail to the arrested suspects.

The verdict was handed down after a revision application was filed on behalf of a suspect arrested with a large quantity of heroin weighing 67 kilograms in the Chilaw area last year.

The Court of Appeal further stated that the current epidemic situation is common to all prisoners and cannot be considered as a special reason for granting bail.
