Second jab after 16 weeks ?

Army Commander General Shavendra has come up with a proposal to give the second Jab after 16 weeks and not 12 weeks as previously planned. The general has mentioned that this proposal is based on recent scientific research but did not give sources.
The general said that research had revealed that the vaccine is best administered after 16 weeks. He said that base d on research the timings were moved previously. Initially it was announced that the second jab must be received after 4 weeks, and it was later moved to 12 weeks.
Over 900,000 people have received the first dose using the AstraZeneca vaccine obtained from the Serum Institute of India. However, the health authorities are faced with a supply problem as the Indian supplier has failed to provide the vaccine as promised.
