Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena elected to chair 17th Session of BIMSTEC Ministerial Meeting

Foreign Affairs Minister Dinesh Gunawardena has been elected to chair the 17th Session of the Ministerial Meeting of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC).

 

Minister Gunawardena who presided  over the conference held in Colombo on April 1, has stated that the charter of the Association of Parliamentarians of BIMSTEC Member States needs to be finalized early.

 

The Foreign Aaffairs Ministry stated in a media release that the  member countries of the BIMSTEC also connected with Sri Lanka virtually during the meeting.

 

Furthermore, he highlighted the need to implemnt the BIMSTEC Transport Connectivity Master Plan prepared by the Asian Development Bank.
