Sagara has been appointed to a new government position in Parliament.

After Basil Rajapakse was appointed as the new Finance Minister today MP Sagara Kariyawasam, the SLPP's General Secretary, has been chosen as the Government's Deputy Chief Organizer in Parliament.

According to the Prime Minister's Media Unit, Kariyawasam was appointed to the role after former member Jayantha Ketagoda resigned.
