Mahinda Rajapaksa sworn in as SL's Prime Minister

Sri Lanka's former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has been sworn in as the new Prime Minister, today (August 9).
He took oaths at the Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya in the presence of his younger brother, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and several other invitees.
His appointment follows the comforting victory of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) at 2020 General election.
Rajapaksa claimed the top spot in peferential votes at the election from the Kurunegala District.
Mahinda Rajapaksa served as Sri Lanka's President from 2005 to 2015.
