Quality of Turmeric in domestic market to be inspected - CAA

The Consumer Affairs Authority has stated that an inspection will be conducted to ascertain the quality of Turmeric in the domestic market.
The statement further said that 15 samples obtained from across the country were submitted to the laboratory at the Industrial Technology Institute of Sri Lanka, to assess the standards in relation to their quality.
The maximum retail price of 1 Kg of Turmeric is set at LKR 70 and cases were filed against over 70 traders for selling Turmeric at prices exceeding the set market price.
The CAA had recieved several complaints in relation to the traders who violate the regulations and fail to maintain the required standards in the face of the shortage of turmeric in the domestic market.
