Grace period has been announced for the delivery of unlicensed firearms

 

The Ministry of Defense has announced a grace period from February 06 to March 15 for handing over unlicensed firearms to government authorities.

President Ranil Wickramasinghe has announced this in a special gazette notice issued on February 6 (Monday) as the Defense Minister.

This notification is issued in accordance with the powers vested in the Head of State under Section 30(1) of the Firearms Ordinance No. 33 of 1916 and Section 44(3) of the Constitution.
