Paddy Marketing Board does not intervene in the purchase of paddy crops this time

 

This year, the government has decided to purchase paddy in the season through district secretaries and divisional secretaries.

Accordingly, the Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera emphasizes that while the Paddy Marketing Board will not be conducting the purchase of paddy in this season, the government has planned to purchase 66,000 metric tons of paddy through the district secretaries and divisional secretaries.

The government has set aside 10 billion rupees for the purchase of paddy in this season. The government has also decided to convert the paddy purchased by the district secretaries and divisional secretaries into rice and give 10 kilos of rice per family for free for 2 months to low income families.
