Gold prices edge higher in light of the pandemic situation

Local and international gold prices have seen a steep rise on July 9.
In Sri Lanka, a 22 Karat soverign is currently priced at 93,000 LKR.
The Assistant Director of Assaying and Hallmarking of the National Gem and Jewellery Authority Indika Bandara stated that the above has marked a jump of 60,000 LKR in contrast to yesterday.
The price of a 24 Karat soverign in the country has reached 100,000 LKR.
At the begining of the coronavirus outbreak, a 22 karat gold soverign was priced between 82,000 LKR and 84,000 LKR.
